Project Challenges: The world famous Apollo Theater had been home to the most talented and celebrated African-American performing artists but the building was sorely in need of restoration and its back-of-house facilities were significantly below standard. The Apollo Theater Foundation hired Q&A to evaluate the condition of the landmark theater and the feasibility of developing a performing arts center on 125th Street encompassing both the Apollo Theater and the Victoria Theater. Multiple upgrades to the historic theater have been accomplished including facade and marquee restoration on 125th Street, infrastructure and life safety upgrades and patron accommodations. Presently, the Performing Arts Center has not proceed into construction.
