Everhart (b. ca. 1848) of Clarke County, Virginia, for Mary C. But there also was slavery in the North, on a smaller scale. This poster for a production of Uncle Tom's Cabin features the Garden City Quartette under the direction of Tom Dailey and George W. The thrust of recent scholarship supports the latter interpretation. As such, this was a clever political tactic on Lincoln’s part to prepare the nation for slave liberation.
